An English conversation on this forum - Page 10

Dimanche 30 Décembre 2007 23:07

Citation de Zouzou :

Yes, I use indeed German and English in my job, by mail, phone and directly with the customers. I would like to use more German, but we have more customers from the UK, Ireland than from Germany ( and I am not very at ease with the english language ). And with the people from the Netherlands, I use both; sometimes Ebglish, sometimes German; that's up to them!

That must be a nice aspect of your work, you can keep practice daily 2 different languages as well as your mother tongue language..
I guess you like foreign language, and even If you prefer German and master it better, your english is pretty good..

Sorry for being late on this conversation but the reason for this topic was about English spoken but until now it just deals with English writting...
I guess you need to record a poscast rather than posting if you really want to practice your english Émoticône

It is quite difficult to speak on a forum... It is easier to write. Émoticône

Are you talking to me? (Robert De Niro)

Ellbib, the guy who create this topic has probably made a mistake with writing "english spoken" instead of "english written" but I'm pretty sure It wasn't question in his mind of english oral conversation but only english written topic...

You're right on the fact that speaking in english is more efficient in order to improve english speaking skills!!

whaou ! two answers in a row just for this small comment Émoticône
No mistake, it was just a way for me to join this conversation as I was not able to find the real subject ( it seems there is no subject ) of this topic.

one time during a match , all along the first set the guy I played was saying 'come on' after each point ! what a surprise for me (he easily win the 1st set) , so just after the first set I talk to him in english and ask if he wants the points being counted in this language!

What a surprise for him, I think he did not undestood my beautiful accent ......and he has lost the next 3 sets...........

You must have felt quite lonesome after this event, that's terrible when you speak in a foreign language with a perfectly correct sentence and the local doesn't get a word of what you are saying..
I did have this feeling of loneliness when I asked my flatmate for a siouwing niddle and I answered me: what de fuck are ya talking about froggy?? oh you Soowing niddle!! (sew is pronounced like saw)

I had not this feeling at this time because I was pretty sure of the result ..., his english was limited to this 2 words....... and I won this match - he had this feeling........of loneliness

Ok, It seems like a tutorial on quoting technique is needed!! Émoticône

I have had the same experience of taking a french for an english spoken person, it was my seat neighbour on a plane, she was speaking in english to air hostesses, I thought that english was her mother tongue language..my attempt to enter in communication with her was pathetic as I was underneath my seat when she answered to my question "are you english?" by "no I'm french"

But because she was French it was better for your conversation, wasn't it?

It wasn't, I made my mind to speak in english, because I feel that when you speak in a different language you are a little bit different, the same basis but a different cover..I enjoy this feeling...and I was ready to enjoy that, but she was french and after her answer I dove into my readings and didn't give a look to her again before we land on london.. Émoticône that was a fatal stop in my motion..
