these few days I've been watching video clips of good J-penhold players on youtube, simply just to understand the way they play. As J-pen is a single sided blade, hence the limitation is of course on the backhand. Penholder like Kim Taek Soo and Ryu Seung Min never fail to amaze me with their ability to cope with the game well despite of backhand limitation. It's no doubt, the major strength of a penholder will be good footwork and powerful drive.
I hope more people will write a review on their experience or opinion in playing J-pen blade in both english and french. Here, I use google translator to translate my posting to French. I hope it will turn out to be good
***I'm getting some Darker and Nittaku Jpen blades....I will post up the picture once they arrived.

We saw your posting and thinking of giving our 2 cents on this matter. The advantage of all wood blade is that it gives more feel and control however it might lose out at the speed. On the other hand, hybrid is much the opposite.
I suggest to get and all wood blade. If you really want to get a hybrid blade, then I would suggest blades that come with the arylate carbon. The arylate carbon blade has better control than the carbon blade because of the arylate (a.k.a fiber) layer (which helps to enlarge the sweet spot of the blade - basically better control). So, this kind of hybrid gives you both the control and speed.
Here's a list of good blades that have both the Speed and Control.
* The above blades are very good blades but they are expensive (USD120 and above). Normally hybrid blades are more expensive than an all wood blades but this is an exceptional case.
