A special exclusive Hinoki series in V, VII, and IX. These new line of blades are similar to Butterfly’s Hinoki 5, 7, Nittaku’s Septear, and so on. Even Yinhe came out with very similar designs & physical structure as Nexy’s Tamar Series. Tamar VII at only 84grams is rare itself in Chinese Penhold. These are gotta haves for your Hinoki lovers… They offer stiffness, unique hand feel, and power. These blades feature classic designs with letter engravings at the handle. The authentic smell of Hinoki wood fills the air once you unwrapped the blade from the box, it is heavenly intoxicating=).
First Impressions: Excellent hand-feel as expected from these quality wood veneers. The blade is stiff, but soft. I believe these characteristics are made for offensive players that wants power but without having to lose the hand feel from their blades. So they are good for close-to-table as well as mid distance away.
In-Action Sessions: I have Moon Pro 38 on FH, and Sigma Pro 2 on BH. Tamar VII can generate some serious spinny shots, just like Arirang. I find it more effective with my BH, it might mean that these blades are more suitable for Euro style rubber users. Don’t get me wrong, I love tacky hard rubbers on my FH on this blade to control the “jumpiness” feeling from these Hinoki woods. It’s fun to play with, and it’s a beautiful blade to look at as well. Hinoki woods also produce a very crisp & nice sound from loop driving & countering. It’s slightly bouncier than any of my 7ply blades which helps in out of position shots to get yourself out of jam.
Summary: I have tried many high end quality blades from different reputable companies, and I can say for sure NEXY’s quality control is top notch. Their QC & wood veneers beat a lot of the Chinese, Euro, & even Japanese Brands out there. If you want a quality blade with playing characteristics that fit the bill, give NEXY a try. I was a skeptic at first, but my first NEXY Peterpan has changed my perception of this company completely. Now I have ARIRANG as my #1 weapon of choice. This is a must for Hinoki lovers
